A Sleep Consultant's Review of Zenimal

A Sleep Consultant’s Review of Zenimal

By Meg meadows, Senior Sleep Consultant

This blog is a review of my own personal experience with the product, Zenimal.

I had been recommending this product for years. It's a little speaker that plays meditations and it doesn't have a light on it, so that's the best part. I've been recommending it for years but I hadn’t pulled the trigger for my own children. I wasn't sure if they would stick with it but they had been interested in doing meditations on an app on my phone for quite a while so then I knew it was time to pull that trigger.

This product is much nicer than using my phone because A - there aren’t any lights, B - you can just play it and go; you are not going to stay in the room the whole time, and C - you don't get those pesky notifications happening on your phone in the middle of the meditation. For those reasons, I decided to give it a try and it was super great.

Our Experience

Night one was like magic; my 4 year old was melting down about who knows what, but I got them both in bed and played the sleep meditation for them and it was unbelievable. They both fell asleep during the meditation, which they had never done before so I thought that was pretty amazing.

The Zenimal also has sleep sounds I can play all night, which is nice. It has 9 preloaded categories and then I purchased an additional card for just sleep meditations because they do like to change it up. So I thought that would be a good one.

One thing that's cool about it that I wasn't expecting is that there are different categories for different meditations and it tells you what each one is good for. So the second day, my 4 year old, was melting down about an argument that she and my eight year old had. I played her the gratitude meditation, and it was amazing!

Right away she said “I feel so much better” and told me all about the meditation. I am definitely happy that I decided to get it.

Another thing that's really nice about the Zenimal, which I had been saying to them before too, but at the end of every Zenimal meditation it says, “remember you are a good kid”. I just think that is so nice to instill that confidence and those warm fuzzies. I continue to say it to them too at other times and their whole face lights up and it's just good.

It's good to get those warm fuzzies and I feel like as parents we need that reminder too. So I will end this blog by saying:

Remember, you are a good parent.
